I was wondering if anyone knew of a few good ones. So far I have just heard of The Ramp. The plan is to get a few boats together and take over a guest dock for a night of revelry.

Sun, February 3, 2008 - 8:06 PMThe Delta has public docks right by the towns. Lock has a nice dock. I couldn't find the restaurant with dock in Rio Vista, but I heard there is a great restaurant and dock there.

Mon, February 4, 2008 - 5:31 PMQuinn's Light House is just East of Coast Guard Island up in the Oakland Inner Harbor. It can be a blast and there are lots of Salty Dogs to lie your ears off. I think Quinn's might have the best tasting Guinness on tap in the Bay Area!

Re: Sail up restaurants
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 8:41 PMThere is a little snack bar at China Camp. No dock and I'm not sure when or if it is open. Anchoring there is pretty wild as the current rips through there and changes direction it seems someones boat always drags. -

Re: Sail up restaurants
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 10:19 PMSausalito has quite a bit to offer the visiting boater. You can get a guest birth from Schonamaker Marina and walk to downtown Saus. for all kinds of bars and restaurants. At the fueldock is the Fish restaurant. Sometimes you can just pull forward on the fueldock and hang at the restaurant. Pretty much any marina anywhere will sell you a guest slip and you can wander around. Sausalito has a public dock by the police station, but it's usually filled with dingyies.

Re: Sail up restaurants
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 8:58 AMThere's Giusti's Restaurant in Walnut Grove in the Delta.
They have a boat dock right by the bridge, there. It's not a big one, though, so I don't know how many boatsit can accomodate.

Mon, February 18, 2008 - 2:24 PMJust fyi--the dock by the police station is too shallow for any keelboat even if there is space among the dinghies. -

Re: Sail up restaurants
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 2:38 PMA member of the ST. Francis Yacht Club told me that anyone who arrives by boat is welcome to dine here. A Golden Gate YC member told me that "we restrict access to sailors that have a pulse" The Sausalito Cruising Club usually has a spot or two at their guest dock, tell 'em Johnnie Jean sentcha.

Re: Sail up restaurants
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 5:01 PMHalfway up the Petaluma river there's Papa's Taverna, a Greek restaurant with dock (and ramp). It's really good and kinda funky. Also once you get to Petaluma, there's a dock downtown that puts you right in the middle of downtown, with tons of restaurants, shopping, and a movie theater.
I regards to The Ramp...is there actually a public boat dock there? I haven't been there in a long time, but last time I was there, it really wasn't accessible by boat unless you were going to anchor and swim/dinghy ashore. -

Re: Sail up restaurants
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 10:30 PMFirst of all, thanks for the responses guys. I actually did end up sailing to the Ramp, and there is indeed a dock there. There is almost no current, and it is fairly sheltered, so docking was quite easy... definitely recommend it. Though food is marginal, and beer is expensive, but nothing is there to stop you from venturing further inland for cheaper beer.
I actually work part time in Petaluma, so a brief visit could be rather convenient. How long does it take to get there from the bay and is it easy with a 5.4 draft? -

Re: Sail up restaurants
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 3:26 PMThanks for The Ramp info. I'll probably check it out some Sunday on my return. I have a MacGregor 26x with a 50hp engine, so I power up and down the river in about an hour or so. I think you're good with a 5.4 draft, but I don't recall what depth I was getting along the way. I do see some pretty big boats up at the Petaluma dock though.
